The Moscow City Council has approved a $5,000 match for the Moscow Area Mountain Bike Association's (MAMBA) proposal to construct a 2-mile system of bike trails on 20 acres of donated land located near the intersection of Moscow Mountain Road and Rock Creek Road. If successful, the trails are expected to be open to the public as early as May 2025.
MAMBA, a nonprofit founded in 1997, seeks to fund the project through a grant from the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation and has proposed to construct and maintain the trails. The trails will provide a recreational activity to the area and discourage the creation of unauthorized trails while also introducing advanced mountain biking.
Councilors Sandra Kelly and Gina Taruscio praised the project, with Kelly noting that it will help with the city's tourism, and Taruscio expressing appreciation for MAMBA's ability to manage such a project. If all goes according to plan, the trails will open in the spring of 2025.
